HomyKin App - Privacy Policy
Privacy Policy – HomyKin
Last updated: March 2026
HomyKin ("we", "our", or "us") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting it. This Privacy Policy explains how the HomyKin mobile application handles information when you use our application.
HomyKin is designed to help users explore family relationships through interactive genealogy visualization and AI-powered face recognition technology.
By using the application, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Camera Access
HomyKin requires access to your device camera in order to enable the core feature of the application.
The camera is used to:
- Detect faces in real time
- Perform face recognition
- Identify family members within the family dataset
Camera frames are processed temporarily for recognition purposes and are not permanently stored by the application.
1.2 Face Recognition and Biometric Data
HomyKin uses face recognition technology to identify family members stored in the application's dataset.
To perform recognition:
- The application analyzes facial features detected by the camera.
- Facial features may be converted into mathematical representations (face embeddings) for comparison.
Important information:
- The current MVP version uses preloaded demo facial data created by the developer.
- Users cannot upload their own facial data in this version.
- Facial recognition processing occurs only during active use of the camera feature.
- Camera frames used for recognition are not permanently stored.
The biometric processing performed by the application is used solely to demonstrate the face recognition functionality and is not used for surveillance, identity verification, or tracking.
1.3 Demo Data Used in the MVP Version
The current version of HomyKin is a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) intended for demonstration and testing.
The app includes:
- Preconfigured demo accounts
- Seeded family relationship data
- Preloaded facial recognition data used for testing
These datasets are created and maintained by the developer and do not represent real user personal information.
Users do not upload personal data or create accounts within the app in this version.
2. Account System
In the current MVP version of HomyKin:
- Users cannot create accounts within the application
- Accounts used in the application are manually created by the developer on the backend for testing purposes
Because of this:
- The app does not collect user registration information
- The app does not store personal user accounts
Future versions of the app may introduce user account creation and family tree management features.
3. How We Use Information
Information processed by the application is used only for the following purposes:
- Demonstrating face recognition functionality
- Identifying family members in the family dataset
- Improving the performance and stability of the application
We do not use personal data for advertising or marketing purposes.
4. Data Sharing
HomyKin does not sell, rent, or share personal data with third parties.
Because the MVP version uses only developer-provided demo data, no real user personal information is transmitted or shared.
5. Data Storage and Retention
The current version of HomyKin:
- Does not require user accounts
- Does not collect personal user information
- Uses only demo datasets provided by the developer
Camera frames used during face recognition are processed temporarily and are not permanently stored unless required for debugging or improving system performance.
6. User Data Deletion
Because users cannot create accounts or upload personal data in the current MVP version, there is no user-generated data stored by the application.
If future versions of the application introduce user accounts or personal data storage, users will be provided with mechanisms to manage and delete their data.
This Privacy Policy will be updated accordingly when those features become available.
7. Children's Privacy
HomyKin does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
The application currently operates using developer-provided demo data and does not allow users to submit personal information.
8. Security
We take reasonable measures to protect information processed by the application, including:
- Secure communication protocols
- Limiting data collection
- Minimizing data retention
These measures help ensure that information processed by the application remains secure.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect:
- Updates to the application
- New features
- Legal or regulatory requirements
When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
